I had an interesting conversation recently about an online store called Shein, and the topic of sells dildo. As an avid shopper, I wanted to find out more and do a little bit of research. It turns out, they do not actually offer dildos, at least under that name, but some products can be used as one.
I remember when my friends and I used to joke about this. I wasn’t really sure why there was such an association between this store and the selling of dildos. But then, I started thinking – if they’re selling lingerie, why not dildos too?
I also figured, why not find out more? Feeling a bit curious, I ventured into the store’s website and skimmed through the products and categories. Sure enough, there was lingerie, and also vibrators that could be used as a dildo.
The thing is, though, these items were hidden away rather carefully. I found them by looking through all the possible categories but they were tucked away in such a way that you would not immediately notice them unless you were specifically looking for them. Of course, I didn’t have the guts to purchase one just to see what it was like.
I did talk to some friends about it, and it turns out one of them had bought one before. He said it was quite discreet – in other words, it was not something that could be easily identified as a dildo.
As I thought more, it seemed pretty interesting that such a store would sell these items, even if discreetly. But still, it makes me wonder why dildos are still kind of taboo in today’s world. After all, sex is part of our lives and it should be openly and honestly discussed. Why do these items need to be hidden?
Whilst browsing online for dildos, I noticed that there were not many shops that sell them. There were, however, some websites that specialize in sex toys, and it seems that these places are the only ones that really do stock them. Even then, there are many regulations and obligations surrounding the sale of such items – for example, they can’t be displayed or advertised openly.
It all just seems a bit silly to me. People should be able to purchase what they want without all the hoops and loopholes to jump through. Sex is natural, and it deserves to be respected as such. After all, why should we shy away from it?
I guess my overall opinion on this topic is that more openness needs to be encouraged when looking at and talking about dildos and sex toys. Why should we care what anyone else thinks? If people want to indulge in sexual pleasures, then they should be entitled to do so without judgment or shame standing in their way.
